Windjammers: Nostalgia, Adventure and Comfort
Until the 20th century the big sailing ships sailed as freighters across the oceans. They were famous for the “saltpetre trip” from Chile to Europe or the Australian wheat transport. Later, windjammers were ordered for training purposes of the navy. Characteristic for these vessels are the numerous square sails and the significant size: some of them are more than 325 feet long, during day sailing trips up to 120 guests have room on board.
Until today windjammers have not lost their fascination. On board these majestic ships one will feel an atmosphere of adventure and romance. Nowadays, the ships offer great comfort - from cosy parlours to luxurious cabins.
Benefit from the special ambience on board. Windjammers can be chartered during the maritime events in northern Germany, i.e. Kiel Week and the Hamburg Port Festival as well as sailing trips on the Baltic Sea.
